Community Trails

Real-world learning beyond classrooms, connecting students with people and stories in their neighbourhoods.

The Community Trail is a guided Design Thinking journey through a school’s surrounding neighbourhood.

Step into real community spaces

Observe lived challenges, constraints, and trade-offs

Engage directly with people behind everyday places

Reflect on care, responsibility, and social impact

Each trail is intentionally curated to support deep empathy, critical inquiry, and reflective learning.

How it works?

1

Students visit multiple neighbourhood touchpoints — from hawker stalls and small businesses to social enterprises and grassroots organisations

2

At each stop, they listen to real stories and perspectives, guided by structured observation and reflection prompts

3

Learning is scaffolded through an intentional cycle of observe → empathise → reflect → design

Flexible by design and can be adapted for:

CCE and Values-in-Action

Student leadership and service learning

Let's explore this together

If you are curious to explore how a Community Trail might fit your school’s context — whether for a small pilot, a level-wide programme, or an educator walkthrough — we would be glad to connect.

Sometimes, the most meaningful learning journey begins just a 10-minute walk from school.
